Performance Reviews play a crucial role in creating fair, consistent, and unbiased evaluations of employees. However, conducting performance reviews calibrations in a remote work environment can bring some challenges, such as difficulty building trust and effective communication, limited face-to-face interaction, and reduced opportunities for observation and collaboration.

To overcome these obstacles, it is crucial to have access to the right tools and resources that can facilitate the calibration process. This is where Rumi comes in, offering the solution that makes it easy and convenient to run effective calibrations and promotion committee meetings.

<aside> 🔬 What is a Performance Calibration Review? A Performance Calibration Review is a meeting where HR representatives and managers discuss ratings of employees based on predetermined criteria. The purpose is to identify any potential biases or inconsistencies and make adjustments to ensure fairness and accuracy. During the meeting, each manager will have a conversation with the HR manager to discuss ratings and adjust them as needed. Rumi provides a platform to facilitate the process and help ensure effective and efficient communication.

The benefits that Rumi offers to performance review calibration, including:

  1. Time-Saving: Rumi streamlines performance review calibrations and keeps them on schedule with its queue, timer, and two-speaker focus features. This saves time, as discussions are more focused and less prone to distractions.
  2. Improved Communication: The time-limited speaking feature helps to ensure that everyone has a chance to speak and prevents one person from dominating the conversation. This helps to keep the meeting organized and focused, reducing the risk of tangents or distractions
  3. Enhanced Engagement: Only those speaking have their cameras on, this keeps participants engaged and focused, resulting in a more productive and efficient meeting.
  4. Efficient Flow Management: Rumi's one-on-one approach to discussions during performance review calibrations ensures that each conversation is effectively managed, keeping the meeting on track and preventing interruptions.
  5. Effective Record Keeping: Rumi helps you keep an accurate record of the feedback for each employee by recording and analysing their performance reviews. This makes it easier to make informed decisions. Moreover, Rumi automatically summarises each review, providing perfect context.
  6. Reduced transparency: Remote work can also make it difficult to see the thought process and reasoning behind each manager's ratings. Rumi can provide greater transparency by allowing managers to provide detailed explanations for their ratings and allowing HR representatives to review and adjust as needed.

Getting your employee and panel interview set up on Rumi

👩‍💻 For the host (HR Manager):

It is important to understand that this type of calibration is designed to ensure that all managers are rating employees fairly and consistently. The HR manager should ask the employee to set up and host the Rumi meeting and share links with all other managers involved in the calibration. All other managers should then join the queue in order. Each manager will have a 5-minute (or 10-minute if direct reports are more than 5) conversation with the host to discuss the performance of the employee being reviewed.

  1. Employee sets up and hosts Rumi meeting and shares link with review team or managers.
  2. HR manager joins queue first, followed by the other managers join queue for 5/10 minute conversation each.
