Set up Rumi for Slack

To get started, a Slack admin needs to install the Rumi app for your workspace. After that, anyone can finish setup from Slack.

1. Slack admin: Install the Rumi app in Slack

• An admin on your Slack workspace needs to install Rumi:

  • Select your workspace

  • Click “Allow”

  Only a Slack admin can complete this step — it's mandatory.

  All Rumi team members can then complete the remaining steps in Slack to use Rumi.

  To confirm the Rumi app is active in Slack, type /rumi and it will appear:

2. Follow the setup guide in Slack by typing /rumi

• In any Slack channel or DM, type /rumi and press Enter.
• Follow the prompts in Slack to authorize connections and complete setup.

a. Authorize Rumi.ai to connect with Slack

• In Slack you should see the setup guide if you type /rumi then Enter.
• Click “Authorize Rumi.ai”.
• Follow the prompts to log into Rumi with your existing account and allow the connection.

b. Connect the Slack integration on Rumi’s Integration page

• In Slack, click “Connect integration”.
• This opens the Rumi.ai Integrations page in your browser.
• Follow the prompts in each modal and make sure to scroll down and click "Allow".
• Return to Slack and type /rumi. Slack will show any remaining steps if incomplete.

3. Use Rumi commands in Slack

• Once you’ve finished all the setup steps and see a ”Success” message, you’re ready to use Rumi in Slack!
• You can type /rumi anytime in Slack to see all the available commands, including:
  • /rumi schedule: Create a new scheduled Rumi meeting
  • /rumi start: Start an instant Rumi meeting
  • /rumi memory: Ask Meeting Memory™ questions
  • /rumi help: Show all available commands
  • /rumi list: List upcoming meetings
  • /rumi setup: Show this setup guide again
• Just type /rumi whenever you want a reminder or need to use one of these features.

Tips

• Only a Slack admin can complete Step 1. Anyone on the team who wants to use Rumi with Slack should complete Steps 2 and 3.
